Bathroom Renovations

Bathrooms that work properly.

ZBF takes on bathroom renovations across Wellington and the Hutt Valley — from single-room refreshes through to full strip-backs that form part of a wider home upgrade. Ensuites and laundries fall under the same scope.

Zac works directly with you and your builder to plan the layout, run the rough-in, and install every fixture cleanly through to final sign-off.

What It Looks Like

A reno with Zac, step by step.

Every bathroom is different, but the process generally follows the same four steps — from the first site visit through to handover.

  1. 01

    Initial consultation

Zac visits the site, looks at the existing setup, talks through what you're after, and gives you an honest assessment. No hard sell — if something doesn't need replacing, he'll tell you.

  2. 02

    Planning

Zac works through the plumbing and drainage layout, identifies any consent requirements, and coordinates with your builder or tiler. Getting this right before tools come out saves time and money.

  3. 03

    The work

Rough-in plumbing, drainage connections, hot water supply, gas line work where applicable, and final fixture install — basins, toilets, showers, baths, tapware.

  4. 04

    Final sign-off

Everything tested and checked before handover. Zac's not the type to disappear once the last fitting goes on — if something isn't right, he'll sort it.

Worth Considering

A few things to think through.

Still in the early stages? Here are the considerations that come up most often, and the ones it pays to get right at the planning stage rather than later.

Layout

Make the most of small spaces.

Wellington homes aren't known for oversized bathrooms. Wall-hung vanities, recessed shelving and compact fixtures can open up a small room without sacrificing function. Getting the plumbing layout right is key — every centimetre counts.

Hot water

Reassess your hot water setup.

A reno is the right time to ask whether your current system suits the household. Adding a second bathroom or a bigger shower? Your existing cylinder might not keep up.

Drainage

Don't overlook the drains.

Moving a toilet or shower means rerouting waste pipes, and that needs to be done properly to meet code. Poor drainage causes some of the most expensive problems to fix after a renovation.

Efficiency

Eco-friendly options.

Low-flow showerheads, dual-flush toilets and efficient hot water systems reduce water and energy use without compromising comfort. Easy to factor in at the planning stage.
